I have to break out of this funk... and I think I did a good job today. I kept my mind busy and worked.
Languages: I drifted a bit in class today... I still got through it alright. I wrapped up my homework real quick and I added two more units of vocabulary to BYKI. Tomorrow I hope to bring it up with my teaching team. Unfortunately, today BYKI went and deleted my user profile. Hopefully that can get squared away without my just having to suck it up and start over. At least all the lists survived...
Marathon: I biked for about 20 minutes today. I hate the cross-training but I wanted to work out some of the tension in my legs from yesterday's run. My calves seem to be taking the brunt of it. Oh well. At least I got to read my book.
Fitness: I actually lifted today. It was a pretty light work out but it still felt good to do it and it was a lot faster this time. The key difference is that rather than stick the order defined in my routine I hopped to whatever exercise was available. I just made sure I didn't work the same area of my body twice in a row. I'm still wondering just how often I should be working my abs to make them finally kick in...
Automotive: The autoport asked me to bring my car in so that they could take a few hours to look at it. Thing is that I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow so it'll have to wait. They also wanted me to drive around on it a bit more and see if some of my issues weren't just the brakes being broken in.
Gaming: I am finding that just a little bit of gaming helps me dump whatever is on my mind. However, I really limit how long I spend on it. It needs to be 'just a little bit.'
Personal: So today I got to read some of one of my favorite books: The Book of Geoffroi de Charny. I've read it before but it's worth re-reading. As I only had 20 minutes I didn't get very far into. Today's segment touched upon the different kinds of men-at-arms and what kinds are more worthy. While a jouster is indeed worthy of honor, the tourneyman is more so for his art incorporates that of jousting with more hazardous fare. War is greater than both jousting and the tournament as it includes both and risks life, resources, land, and everything else. I see it today as the difference between your sport fighters at the local dojo, a professional fighter, and an actual military man. All are men at arms but who has won the greater honor? Who risks more?
Then there was a discourse on different kinds of men who take up arms. Some do so because they are paid to. Some do so to defend their homelands. Some do so to impress a lady. There was a mention of men who go on long journeys to see strange and wondrous sights but how they can be enraptured by seeing strange things and, being too eager to move, fail to wait for the battles where they would win honor through their deeds. Men who try to make a show about going to war and wind up spreading their resources so thin that they have to withdraw before they've had their chance are mentioned. There's more but I ran out of time tonight...
